Procedure:
In accordance with Section 41 of the Workplace Relations Act, 2015 and/or Section 79 of the Employment Equality Acts, 1998 – 2015 following the referral of the complaint to me by the Director General, I inquired into the complaint and gave the parties an opportunity to be heard by me and to present to me any evidence relevant to the complaint.
Background:
The claimant worked for approximately two weeks with the respondent during which time he alleges that his work was fine. He divulged his sexual orientation to a fellow employee and he claims that after this he was dismissed. He is claiming discriminatory dismissal. |
Attendance at Hearing:
There was no appearance by or representation on behalf of the claimant. I am satisfied that the claimant was on notice of the hearing having been informed of the date and venue by letter dated 19th June 2017. |
Decision:
Section 41 of the Workplace Relations Act 2015 requires that I make a decision in relation to the complaint in accordance with the relevant redress provisions under Schedule 6 of that Act.
Section 79 of the Employment Equality Acts, 1998 – 2015 requires that I make a decision in relation to the complaint in accordance with the relevant redress provisions under section 82 of the Act.
The complaint under section 77 of the Employment Equality Act, 1998 is dismissed for want of prosecution |
